NRA Basic Pistol Course
The NRA Basic Pistol Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and
operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 10-hours long and includes classroom and
range time, learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s
rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals,
range rules, shooting from the bench rest position as well as two handed and one handed
standing positions, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skill development.
Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and
Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. A Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination
will be given after the classroom instruction, and a
course completion certificate.
Class size is limited to a maximum of 8 people, so I can spend individual time as necessary.
The classroom portion will be at my home (unless a group of you want me to come to a location,
which I can do).
Most classes will start at 9am Saturday, will complete about 5 pm. Then we’ll be off to a range
to complete the course. The range time will be a maximum of 2 people at a time that I will
instruct, lasting about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The range time can be arranged for another day
if necessary. |
